The new knife gate valve adopts a patented gate seal design, which can form a continuous seal around the gate, and is equipped with a precision molded elastic valve seat. Compared with the standard O-ring design, this heavy-duty valve seat increases the valve's contact area and elastic sealing ability, thereby providing excellent isolation performance over an extended life cycle. The valve design is optimized to thrive under heavy slurry conditions. The fully circular port eliminates protrusions in the flow, thereby minimizing valve turbulence and reducing the wear of valve components and downstream equipment. Reversible and rotatable wear rings are also standard on both sides of the valve to protect the valve seat and extend maintenance intervals. In the design process of KS1, the maintenance team is also the primary consideration. The valve can be repaired using standard tools and off-the-shelf spare parts. The packing system can be adjusted externally to dynamically and automatically adjust the pressure of the gate edge sealing system. KS1 is also designed to comply with the standard MSS SP-135 face-to-face size to allow simple replacement and upgrade of poorly performing installation valves. Clarkson KS1 is rugged and durable, suitable for severe mud service from 2" to 30". It has a variety of available flange modes. The pressure rating of ASME 150 at ambient temperature is 290 psi (20 bar) and the temperature rating is up to 300. °F (149°C). Alternative materials can also be used to deal with abnormal wear and corrosive process conditions, and various automation options can be configured to adapt. "The Clarkson KS1 is a compelling innovation for operators of heavy pulp processes such as tailings lines," explains Mike Gordon, Emerson's knife gate valve business director. "The valve is designed to extend zero-leak isolation in these harsh environments, so these processes can run for longer periods of time without interruption to increase throughput and minimize valve maintenance costs."
