Mojang Studios banned the integration of NFTs into Minecraft earlier this week. The move away from NFTs is partly due to the implementation of new rules so as to ensure that players have access to the same features. However, these non-profits can create scarcity and exclusion patterns that violate our aims and the spirit of Minecraft. In this case, the company in total refuses Bitcoin technologies and does not allow them to be used in client and server applications, and doesn’t also allow NFT to use Minecraft in-game content.

The developers did not act that way because they were trying to use tokens in the NFT Worlds project. It sells no-flips tied to world seeds that can be used to create Minecraft worlds using a base-game client. Since Mojang Studios announced the NFT Worlds token price, it fell from 3 ETH (around $4,500) to 1,4 ETH (around two hundred dollars). The token fell by more than 70% in the future.

The developers of NFT Worlds criticized Mojang Studios. They tried to contact Microsoft to discuss the solution and find alternative solutions. In the same way, the world isn’t lost. Microsoft spokesperson revealed that owners of NFT Worlds world seeds can use them in Minecraft, and even use them as destination for other players. But placing an NFT that looks like Earth seed around the world would be wrong. There’s a new API which lets players send and receive token payments within Minecraft.

He clarified that his company does not intend to ban games like blockchain and NFT from its stores. Developers may decide their project.

Developers should be able to decide how to build their games and to decide whether to play them. I think that not all stores and the operating system makers should interfere if they force their opinions onto others. We will definitely not.

Developers should be able to decide how they make their games and free to decide whether to play them. I think that stores and operating systems creators should not interfere, by imposing their views on others. We definitely won’t, said Tim Sweeney.
