Clockworks Analytics, the world's most widely used cloud-based building analysis company, announced the launch of a new Open Application Programming Interface (Open API) developer portal. The new Clockworks Developer Portal will provide customers, partners and developers with secure, real-time access to Clockworks’ rich data sets and integrations.

Through the portal, subscribers can access technical documents and virtual sandboxes to test the entire portfolio or applications of specific buildings, as well as push and pull data from API groups related to asset information, diagnostics, work orders, and equipment. In addition, developers can take advantage of real-time reports on the performance of their connections.

The Clockworks Analytics Fault Detection and Diagnosis (FDD) platform plugs into the existing building management system (BMS) and analyzes thousands of data points to prioritize the buildings with the greatest impacts related to energy performance, indoor air quality, equipment operation, and avoidable costs problem. This powerful equipment and diagnostic data make it a natural integration choice for many intelligent building and facility management technologies. The Clockworks Developer Portal will serve as the launch platform for the solution ecosystem, including existing API integrations with leading smart building IWMS providers Planon and Archibus, digital twin provider Animated Insights, and business intelligence tools (such as PowerBI, etc.).

The information provided by the API goes beyond basic building, equipment, and point information, such as type, label, and relationship. Calculated indicators-such as avoidable energy use, carbon equivalent of energy, equipment operating time, kW/ton of chillers and other key performance indicators (KPI)-supplement fault information, such as valve leakage, sub-optimal economizers Control or cover the sequence. This combination of core asset data, fault information, and calculated KPIs provides important insights for enhancing workflow management, capital planning, risk assessment, maintenance priority, and resource planning.

Nick Gayeski, CEO of Clockworks Analytics, said: “We see great value in opening up our API suite to customers and developers and enabling them to quickly integrate our HVAC analysis with other key solutions in their buildings.” Ultimately, this interoperability between build software and systems will bring deeper insights and better performance to our customers.” Clockworks also collaborates with other industry stakeholders such as BRICK, Haystack and ASHRAE 223P. To adjust metadata standards to support semantic interoperability between buildings and technologies.

As a leading provider of fault detection and diagnosis, Clockworks works with customers around the world to connect their building systems to its cloud analysis platform—standardizing data from hundreds of thousands of devices into standard information models. This global model combined with open APIs makes it easier to grant access to historically difficult systems. For example, Clockworks helps university clients complete their core educational mission by allowing mechanical and data science graduates to access building automation system (BAS) data to run experiments and analysis projects.

Clockworks currently connects to more than 400 million square feet and more than 300,000 mechanical assets in 30 countries, including more than 150 API subscribers. Clockworks plans to regularly enhance the portal with additional API connections and improved customer and developer experience in the coming months.
