As the launch of the Steam platform gets closer, Valve is recruiting staff to test the compatibility of the games in the Steam library with the Steam platform.

Valve announced the Steam Deck in July. The company quickly gained the favor of gamers and promoted the system as a portable gaming computer. Like many other new devices on the market, Steam Deck quickly sold out. One of the reasons behind this system requirement is due to Valve's claim that the handheld PC can access the user's entire Steam library.

Recently, Valve announced that it has begun testing its impressive game library. The purpose of this test is to see which games in the Steam series are compatible with upcoming Steam decks. There are more than 50,000 games on Steam, which is not a trivial matter. In addition, there is an expanded library of new titles every day. To help Valve complete this huge project, the company has begun to hire more people to help check the games in the Steam library to understand the compatibility of the Steam platform.

Unfortunately, Valve did not disclose how many testers it is hiring. However, considering the large number of games on the Steam platform, the potential number is quite substantial. In addition, the developer pointed out that if it needs to support the project, it is prepared to hire more people in the future. In addition, it acknowledges that the process of reviewing each game in the Steam library is a difficult task, and stated that this work may take a considerable amount of time to complete.

According to Valve, these new jobs involve testing games and providing performance-based ratings. The different assignable ratings of the game include verified, playable, unsupported, and unknown. For a game to be verified on the Steam platform, it must meet a number of criteria. These requirements include: supporting the system's controls, having a readable text font, supporting the system's default resolution (1280x800 or 1280x720), having a default graphics configuration, and a playable frame rate.

In addition to reviewing existing games, the company also plans to use these testers to check the compatibility of the upcoming Steam version with the Steam platform. According to Valve, the process of verifying new games for the system involves game developers submitting games for compatibility review before release. Although the time required for the test depends to some extent on the "current size and complexity of the other games in the queue," Valve estimates that the review will take about a week to complete.

Once Steam Deck is in the hands of customers, it will be interesting to see its popularity. The early signs look promising, and even Phil Spencer of Xbox praised the design of this portable machine. It has dual-thumb joysticks, dual trackpads, large screens and many other features, and it seems to provide a comfortable mobile gaming experience.

The Steam platform will be released in December this year.
